Die meisten Songs werden auf dem Ride Becken oder der HiHat begleitet. Eine einfache, aber sehr wirkungsvolle Variante sind Tom- oder Tribal-Grooves. Die rechte Hand wechselt dabei von HiHat oder Ride Becken auf die Stand-Tom. Der Unterschied im Spielgefühl ist nicht sehr groß, klanglich dafür umso mehr: der gleiche Groove klingt plötzlich viel dunkler und kraftvoller.
Das Notenbild sieht auf den ersten Blick ziemlich kompliziert aus, deshalb folgender Trick: teste zunächst jeden Groove auf dem Ride Becken (linke Spalte) und wechsele erst später auf die Stand-Tom (rechte Spalte). Ansonsten bleibt alles gleich.
Koordinations-Experten nehmen zusätzlich die getretene HiHat auf 2 und 4 dazu.
