Das Ride-Pattern ist das Herz des Swing-Grooves und kann im Jazz sehr unterschiedlich phrasiert/interpretiert werden – abhängig vom Song, Tempo oder dem persönlichen Stil des/der Drummers/in. Um schnell erste Songs mit Swing begleiten zu können, beschränken wir uns auf den Folgeseiten auf die gebräuchlichste, triolische/ternäre Microtime.
The key of every Swing Groove is the Ride pattern, which can be phrased/interpreted very differently in Jazz music, depending on the song, tempo or personal style of the drummer. In order to be able to quickly accompany songs with swing, we limit ourselves on the following pages to the most common, triplet/ternary microtime.

Während in Rock- und Pop-Musik Bass und Snare Drum den Grundpuls bilden, spielen beim Swing Ride-Becken und die getretene HiHat die Hauptrolle. Bass und Snare Drum haben eine eher begleitende Rolle.
While in rock and pop music bass and Snare Drum are the main focus and form the basic pulse, in swing ride cymbals and the stepped HiHat play the main role. Bass and Snare Drum have a more accompanying role.
Alternative Schreibweisen Alternative notation styles
Swing in 8tel-Notation. Der Vorteil dieser Schreibweise ist ein übersichtlicheres Notenbild. Es werden zwar 8tel notiert, gemeint ist aber (zunächst) eine triolische Spielweise.

Eine seltene Schreibweise, die aber schön den Viertelpuls im Jazz verdeutlicht. Dieser wird auch oft vom Bass gespielt und “Walking Bass” genannt.
